After graduating from Oregon State University in 1984, Robert ran his family’s Valley View Winery, located in the Applegate Valley near Jacksonville, Oregon. With the help of U.C. Davis-trained winemaker, John Guerrero, he worked to transform Valley View’s entire operation. Robert launched his career in the securities industry in 1989 when he moved to San Francisco to work as an independent market maker with the Pacific Stock Exchange. He worked in the complex derivatives business making markets in stock options in Microsoft, Hilton Hotel, AOL, and Sun Microsystems. He was a market maker on the Options Floor of the Exchange until electronic trading transformed the options industry. Robert and his family moved back to Southern Oregon in 2000, where he joined Briarwood Development & Wisnovsky Homes, a large residential development partnership. As a developer, Robert helped create several desirable neighborhoods including low income housing, senior housing and commercial development.
